Asian Dub Foundation in Prospect Park, playing for George Lucas’ THX 1138

Associating Asian Dub Foundation with George Lucas may be surprising, but last night in Prospect Park, the British band performed its recent composition – a new soundtrack for THX 1138, George Lucas’s first film, and a dystopia.

The suffocating and numbing feeling which characterizes the film was well underlined by the band, which played repetitive rhythms and melodic lines to sonically depict a world reminiscent of Kurt Vonnegut and George Orwell’s fiction.

After the screening, the singer and the drummer started playing some of their most known tunes and the audience was enthralled.

The band performed after beatboxer Taylor McFerrin came on stage with his sister and with singer Jose James. Drummer Marcus Gilmore accompanied McFerrin.
